Foreign Asset Documents for Googlers: Your GSU Filing Checklist

Hold Alphabet stock units (GSUs) through Morgan Stanley or Charles Schwab? Here is a simple, at-a-glance list of the documents we need to file your ITR with confidence. Your Alphabet stock units are a foreign asset, so these documents let us report your income and disclose your holdings correctly in Schedule FA of your return.

If your broker is Morgan Stanley

From Activity then Reports, three of these reports come from the same Reports screen.

  1. Stock statement: Activity › Reports › Your Alphabet Stock Statement (select all history, format xlsx, currency local dollar).
  2. Dividend statement: Activity › Reports › IN - Dividend Report.
  3. Capital gains statement: Activity › Reports › IN - Capital Gain/Loss Report. Only needed if you sold any GSUs.
  4. 1042-S report for calendar year 2025: Documents › Tax document › 1042-S report.

If your broker is Charles Schwab

  1. Quarterly account statements: Accounts › Statements › Brokerage, for every quarter from January 2025 through March 2026.
  2. 1042-S report for calendar year 2025: Accounts › Statements › Tax Forms.
